September 2011 APS Rising Star: Donna has been selected as a “Rising Star” by the Association for Psychological Science. August 2011 While attending ICOM5 in York, Donna was interviewed live on BBC Newsnight in London. Memory for the future: Victoria’s paper on encoding future simulations was published in PNAS. July 2011 Donna named one of New Zealand's 2011 Influencers by Unlimited Magazine from hundreds of nominees. Memory lab students win three prize at INS conference: Peter Bull won the Kevin Walsh award (best abstract submitted by Honours/Masters student); Victoria Martin won the Laird S. Cermak Award (best research on memory), and Valerie van Mulukom won the ASSBI Travel Award (best abstract submitted by a student) November 2010 November 26: Donna wins the The Prime Minister’s MacDiarmid Emerging Scientist Prize. This prize is awarded to a scientist within 5 years of completing a PhD, carrying out leading-edge science. Donna receives $50,000 of the prize money and is able to use the remaining $150,000 to support her on-going research. November 21: Lecture on Radio NZ. Donna's lecture, "How do I know who I am?" was broadcast on Radio NZ. This is available for download here. November 10: Donna is an inaugural Rutherford Discovery Fellow. Donna has been named a Rutherford Discovery Fellow. This prestigious fellowship is worth $800,000 over 5 years and will let her focus on her research. |

October 2010 October 13: Katie wins Merit in Poster Comp! Katie won a Merit award in the Psychology Department Honours Poster Competition, for her study on visual and verbal false memory. Well done Katie! October 18: Radio New Zealand lecture in Whanganui. Donna is giving a lecture on self and identity in Whanganui as part of the Radio NZ/Royal Society lecture series on Brain and Behaviour, "Talking Heads". This will be broadcast in November. |

September 2010 September 9: Victoria wins High Distinction. Victoria entered her poster on Encoding of Future Simulations into the Faculty of Science Post-Graduate poster competition and was awarded a High Distinction (with a cash prize!!) Well done Victoria!! |

August 2010 August 29 - September 1: Lab attends AWCBR. Our lab attended the Australasian Winter Conference on Brain Research in Wanaka, NZ.
